While I personally much prefer the fast ships over the slow ones, I really miss the diversity that EVN had in having the heavier & slower ships and the challenge that they presented. Most things feel closer to being fast attack cruisers. The biggest and slowest warship in the game (probably the world ship or the punisher) still feels closer to being a straight up cruiser. There's no battlecruisers, battleships, Carriers, or even heavy cruisers, really. On a side note, ES as a whole doesn't really have anything in the real Capital class ships. They will be visually stacked on top of each other, but that's fairly minor. The easiest way would be to simply edit the ship entries and copy/paste the fighter & drone section a few times so that there is the desired number of bays. In the mean time, editing the carriers is a fairly simple process. It'd probably be best to term it a "light carrier" or perhaps a fast cruiser with a larger-than-average flight deck.Īs I said, though, the Remnant will get something closer to a true carrier eventually. Hence why it is a medium warship and not a heavy. The Ibis is a bit more focused: All considered, more of its space is devoted to carried ships and less to its own offensive capabilities. That being said, I agree with you on the main point: ES doesn't have any true "Carriers." The Republic Carrier is really just a cruiser that happens to have a flight deck and a small complement of fighters & drones onboard. The Tern only has 500 shields, but shares the same traits in terms of hull and regen.) Unlike other fighters, it actually has both shield & hull regen. So it has more hull than any current fighter, and is tied with the dagger for 5th place in the overall shield standings. (for instance, the Petrel has 1000 shields and 2500 hull. At least, once one gets out of human space. They don't solve the fighter/drone problem, but they are tough enough that they at least make fighters & drones worth considering. Both the Petrel (heavy fighter) and Tern (heavy drone) are intended to be ships that distract first, damage second and as such are capable of surviving considerably longer in combat than most of the "guns strapped to an engine" that are human fighters/drones. The Ibis can carry 2 fighters and 4 drones. The OP is referring to the new Remnant ships: An Ibis (medium warship / carrier) and the Tern+Petrel pair, which are a heavy fighter and drone.
